HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLARK GABLE!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to put this post up yesterday, his real birthday Febuary 1, 2008 because of a certain arm injury that happend. But I'm okay. I don't matter, what matters is we're here to celebrate Oscar winner and amazing actor Clark Gable's birthday. Sadly I haven't seen that many (yeah around 3 or 4) Clark Gable movies (if you think that's a lot, compare it to the dozens of movies I've seen of Audrey Hepburn or Gene Kelly or etc.), but after watching this four (I haven't seen "Mutiny in the Bountry" (1935) but I already own it on DVD) I'm really convinced that Gable is one of the greatest actors of all-time. Wanna know why? 9 words: "GONE WITH THE WIND" and "IT HAPPEND ONE NIGHT".

"IT HAPPEND ONE NIGHT" (1934) was practically the movie that boosted Clark Gable's career. Even though he had done 34 movies before that, no one knew who he was until this film. Here, he was pared up with the big-eyed Claudette Colbert and plays rusty journalist Pater Warne. As they boomed the screen, Gable and Colbert made screen magic for their lovely work in this romantic screwball comedy. Winning an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role, everyone knew that Gable was the HOLLYWOOD LEADING MAN of the time and became one of the most popular people - IN THE WORLD!

In "GONE WITH THE WIND" (1939), Gable plays Rhett Butler and not only marks his name as one of the most iconic character's of all time, but also made his best perfornace to date. When they were announcing that this movie was gonna be made, the world screamed Gable's name and he joined later on. In the film, Gable gives us a performance to remember. He laughs, he cries, he whistles, he dances - in this 4 hour biopic, Gable did what every actor wanted to accomplish: BE AMAZING. He was so amazing...all is said.

So this was just my little Clark Gable Birthday Tribute. Happy Birthday Mr. Gable!!!

ONE COOL FACT: Gable is the first actor even to have gotten a song written for him. Download Judy Garland singing "(Dear Mr. Gable) You Made Me Love You" from "The Broadway Melody of 1938" (1938).
